Minds (2025) for clarinet in Bb, horn in F and bassoon
Composed for Crusell Trio with Viktor Wennesz – clarinet, David MAP Palmquist – horn and Sebastian Stevensson – bassoon, with a first performance in Copenhagen 2025.
In Kim Hedås' new work Minds (2025) for the Crusell Trio, there is a shifting interplay between being alone and being together: simple and yet so complex – both in life itself and in a piece of music. It all begins with a unified sound, with clarinet, horn and bassoon close together, but soon two modes emerge in which a solo instrument contrasts with the duo formed by the other two instruments, with duo instruments that are similar but never quite the same. The shifts between which instrument is solo and which is in duo occur flickeringly over time – the overall effect is that the sounds of the three instruments are constantly shifting in changing patterns.
First performance at 19.30 on Tuesday 29 April 2025 at Østerbro Koncertforening, Unitarernes Hus, Dag Hammerskjölds Allé 30, Østerbro, Köpenhamn.
